Glitter Junkies
Glitter Junkies are Alice Carder and Ricky Chopra. The pair met at Gatecrasher in 2005 where Ricky was resident DJ for eleven years. Glitter Junkies are influenced by the likes of Blondie to Grace Jones. They describe their sound as electro-clash pop-punk with dirty beats and strong feminine vocals.
Their first single ‘Grinding Me’ was written by Alice at a time of turbulence in her relationship with producer/boyfriend Ricky. She hoped to get across her point, using the media of music, as Ricky would be forced to listen to her over and over again during production. The song proved to be a huge hit with the crowds at The Burning Man Festival in the Nevada desert, 2006, where they first played it.
They have since added ‘Hour of need’, ’Battery Operated Love’ and ‘’Rock the Groove’ to their repertoire and are busy working on new material at present.
